Christian CEO Calls On Nation To Rally Together After Storms
Franklin Graham, the CEO of Samaritan’s Purse, recently shared a message of hope and faith amid the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, which severely impacted southeastern states, including his hometown in North Carolina. In an interview with The Christian Post, Graham emphasized that people should not rely solely on the government for help but instead should depend on each other during times of crisis. He urged Americans to embrace a spirit of mutual support, highlighting that neighbors helping neighbors has always been a key part of the nation’s response to disasters.
Samaritan’s Purse, the relief organization led by Graham, has been actively involved in delivering aid to affected areas, particularly in remote parts of western North Carolina. The organization has been using helicopters to deliver food, water, and medical supplies. Graham mentioned that the scale of the destruction is far worse than what is portrayed in the media. He also shared how surreal it felt for Samaritan’s Purse, which typically provides aid internationally, to now be offering assistance in their own community.
When asked about the government’s role in the recovery efforts, Graham refrained from harsh criticism. Instead, he acknowledged that the government often faces challenges during crises and that it is unrealistic to expect the government to solve all problems. He pointed out that while some financial assistance from the government, such as the $750 gift cards offered to victims, can be helpful, people need to take initiative and work toward rebuilding their own lives.
In the face of such overwhelming destruction, Graham offered a message of faith, addressing the common question of why God allows suffering. He reminded people that life is full of different types of storms, whether natural disasters, health challenges, or financial difficulties, but emphasized that faith in Christ can provide comfort and hope. Graham concluded by reinforcing the belief that God’s love will guide people through their hardships and ultimately lead them to safety and peace.
Jesus being “the Christ, the Son of the living God” in Matthew 16:16 is the rock on which Jesus built His church. Peter was only a stone.
