He is praising his former opponent.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s endorsement of, and eventual alliance with, former President Donald Trump is something he believes to be divinely inspired. Speaking at a recent Tucker Carlson Live tour event in Glendale, Arizona, Kennedy shared how his strong commitment to prayer has guided his path. Since 2005, he has devoted half an hour each morning to prayer, asking God to help him make a meaningful difference in children’s health. Now 70, Kennedy told the crowd that he felt his prayers were answered in August when he joined forces with Trump.
In August, Kennedy announced a pause in his campaign to support Trump, while also choosing to stay on the ballot in certain non-competitive states to avoid inadvertently aiding Democratic candidates. He emphasized that he wanted his supporters to have a voice in the election, illustrating his commitment to a continued presence in the race, even as he threw his weight behind Trump.
Raised in a devout Catholic family, Kennedy has long spoken about his religious roots. In an interview with the Catholic News Agency (CNA), he recalled how Catholicism shaped his childhood, describing it as central to his family’s daily life. From regular prayers to Bible readings and attending multiple church services, faith was woven deeply into his upbringing. However, after his father’s assassination when he was 15, Kennedy struggled with his faith, especially during years of addiction that lasted until he was 28, pushing spiritual matters to the margins of his life.
A transformative “spiritual realignment” in early adulthood, however, renewed his faith, becoming a cornerstone of his recovery journey. Kennedy described an early “spiritual awakening” that helped him break free from addiction, though he emphasized the importance of daily renewal through acts of service. This experience solidified his commitment to spiritual growth as a lifelong endeavor.
If Trump were to win the presidency, he has indicated a desire for Kennedy to play a role in his administration, specifically in overseeing public health. At a recent rally, Trump mentioned his plans to give Kennedy substantial freedom in shaping policies related to health, food, and medication. However, these potential duties have stirred public discussion, with Trump’s transition team co-chair refuting any formal commitments, leaving Kennedy’s role uncertain for now.
