Thankfully he was caught.
Isaac Sissel, a 25-year-old man from Ann Arbor, Michigan, has been arrested and charged with federal offenses after allegedly threatening violence against conservative Christians following former President Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 election. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan, Sissel faces charges related to making threatening communications.
The FBI National Threat Operations Center received an anonymous online message on November 2, detailing an intended attack targeting conservative Christians if Trump were to win. The message also mentioned the possession of a stolen AR-15 rifle and suggested the individual had hidden the weapon to avoid detection. The threat made it clear that the individual believed there was little the FBI could do without knowing the location of the weapon.
Through an investigation, authorities traced the threat back to Sissel using phone records and an IP address. They also discovered that Sissel was linked to several banned Reddit accounts, with names that referenced violence against Trump supporters. On November 4, federal agents interviewed Sissel at a hotel in Canton, Michigan, where he allegedly expressed hatred toward conservative Christians and stated he would not intervene if someone planned to assassinate Trump. He also admitted to frequently harassing patients at a rehab clinic, mocking their religion.
Though no weapons were found during the search, Sissel claimed he had a chemical irritant, which agents prevented him from accessing. Investigators also noted that Sissel appeared to have no consistent residence in Michigan, and he has a criminal history that includes arrests for stalking and harassment.
Sissel’s court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, though it was unclear whether the hearing took place. The charges he faces highlight the seriousness of the alleged threats and the federal authorities’ swift response to the situation.
