Her blindness brought clarity.
The phrase “Go to Hell” is one many are familiar with—direct and harsh, often used sarcastically and rarely in a positive sense. But what about its opposite, “Go to Heaven”? Unlike its negative counterpart, it sounds hopeful yet unfamiliar in daily conversation.
This raises profound questions: Who goes to Heaven? Where is it? What will life there look like? These mysteries about our eternal future often surface when contemplating life beyond the physical world. Jennifer Rothschild, a renowned author and speaker, offers some insights. “Many assume that when we die before Christ’s return, we immediately arrive in Heaven with a glorified body, walking streets of gold,” Rothschild explains. “But Heaven is the dwelling place of God—a real place where believers in Christ will live forever, fully alive in God’s presence.”
Rothschild dives deeper into this topic in her new seven-session video-based Bible study, Heaven: When Faith Becomes Sight. The study is designed to explore Heaven from a biblical perspective and help people set their minds on eternal things while living with purpose in the here and now. Through her work, she seeks to transform curiosity about Heaven into faith-filled anticipation and peace.
“One powerful way to focus on eternity is by embracing the present reality,” says Rothschild, who lost her sight at age 15. She encourages others to accept what God allows rather than resist it or demand certainty. “When you accept what God permits, you find purpose in it, and you begin to see that it’s only temporary,” she shares.
In a recent appearance on the Crossmap Podcast, Rothschild reflected on how losing her vision as a teenager shaped her faith. Her personal journey underscores the message of her study: finding strength in faith, trusting God’s plan, and embracing the hope of eternity. Through her teachings, Rothschild aims to help others navigate life’s challenges while keeping their eyes fixed on the promise of Heaven.
