There is never a bad time to spread the message.
Brad Arnold, lead singer of the rock band 3 Doors Down, recently shared how his faith helped him overcome his struggles with addiction. In an interview, Arnold revealed that despite growing up in a Christian household, he fell into alcohol addiction during the early 2000s when his band gained fame with hits like “Kryptonite” and “Here Without You.” After receiving advice from country music legend Charlie Daniels, Arnold sought help in rehab, where he rediscovered his faith in Christianity. He has since been sober for over nine years, which he described as the best years of his life.
In 2022, Arnold made a bold move by pausing one of his concerts to share a message of faith with his fans. Before performing the song “Away from the Sun,” he told the audience that society often pushes a message of inadequacy, but reminded them that they are loved by Jesus Christ and are “enough” in God’s eyes. This public sharing of faith was the result of a personal conviction Arnold felt, following a message he believed he received from Jesus to tell his fans about God’s love.
Arnold explained that sharing his faith at rock concerts wasn’t easy, as the audience might not expect or be receptive to religious messages. However, he felt strongly about using his platform to spread the Gospel, even if it might be challenging in that environment. Inspired by the Bible’s description of John as “the disciple Jesus loves,” Arnold found a way to communicate the love of Jesus to his audience in a meaningful and relatable way. His band also prays before taking the stage, and Arnold is committed to using his words to inspire and uplift others.
In 2023, Arnold and his wife, Jennifer, were re-baptized together, further deepening their commitment to their faith. Arnold has expressed that sharing the Gospel from the stage is one of the most significant moments of his career, feeling grateful for the opportunity to reach so many people with the message of Jesus’ love. He recognizes that his time to deliver these messages during concerts is short, but he is determined to make the most of it and believes that this is his purpose.
Though 3 Doors Down is not a Christian band, Arnold frequently shares his faith on social media, offering prayers and Bible verses to his followers. He attributes his sobriety and personal transformation to his renewed relationship with God, encouraging others to seek spiritual support when facing their own struggles. For Arnold, sharing the love of Jesus has become not only a personal mission but also the most rewarding aspect of his life and career.
