He’s leaving a legacy of compassion.

Sonny Arguinzoni Sr., the founder of Victory Outreach, passed away at the age of 85. Arguinzoni was a major figure in Christian ministry, having started hundreds of churches across the United States and around the world. His main church, Victory Outreach Chino in California, announced his death on Facebook, describing him as more than just a man, but a movement that inspired millions through his unwavering faith and dedication to transforming lives and communities.

Reverend Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, paid tribute to Arguinzoni, calling him the “Godfather of inner-city ministry” and a man of deep faith who led countless people to Christ. Rodriguez emphasized Arguinzoni’s lasting legacy, noting how his influence continues to inspire Christians and change lives even after his passing.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1939, Arguinzoni had a troubled youth, struggling with gang involvement and drug addiction. However, his life took a dramatic turn in his early 20s when he became a born-again Christian. In 1967, he and his wife founded Victory Outreach, which focuses on helping individuals in inner-city environments, particularly those battling addiction and violence. Today, Victory Outreach boasts around 700 churches in 33 countries.

Victory Outreach Chino, originally based in Los Angeles before moving to La Puente and then to Chino, was the first of many Victory Outreach churches. In 1989, Arguinzoni passed the leadership of this church to his son, Sonny Arguinzoni Jr. The ministry continues to grow, reaching people worldwide with the message of hope and faith, while continuing to honor the vision of its founder.

Victory Outreach and its global congregation remain committed to carrying on Arguinzoni’s legacy, helping those in need and spreading the message of Jesus Christ. The church has made it clear that the compassionate and faith-driven mission that Sonny Arguinzoni started will continue to impact lives for generations to come.
