A Christian nonprofit organization in California, Orange County Rescue Mission (OCRM), recently received a generous $200,000 grant from the well-known fast-food chain, Chick-fil-A. The grant, which comes from Chick-fil-A’s True Inspiration Awards, will help fund the operations of the ministry’s Double R Ranch, a facility aimed at assisting homeless individuals by providing outdoor activities and skills training.

OCRM President Bryan Crain expressed the organization’s gratitude for the grant, stating they were “honored to be selected among many other nonprofits that serve their communities” and emphasized how much the nonprofit relies on private donations for funding. Crain explained that the organization operates solely through the generosity of private foundations, individual donors, and churches. The nonprofit was encouraged to apply for the grant by a local Chick-fil-A operator, and after being nominated, they were voted as the top organization in the western region by Chick-fil-A customers.

Local support played a key role in their win, with Chick-fil-A locations in Orange County promoting OCRM to their customers. Additionally, the Angels Baseball Foundation helped spread the word, encouraging fans to vote for OCRM during Los Angeles Angels home games in September. This community effort helped secure the grant for the nonprofit, which will support its mission to help the homeless.

The Double R Ranch is designed to help homeless individuals heal through outdoor activities and interactions with animals. Crain shared that the ranch offers an educational experience where participants can learn skills in ranching, animal care, and land cultivation. This hands-on work is meant to provide therapeutic benefits, giving participants a break from societal pressures and helping them build self-reliance and discipline.

Founded in 1963, Orange County Rescue Mission aims to serve homeless families and individuals by sharing the love of Jesus Christ. Crain highlighted the importance of faith in their work, stating that their ultimate goal is to help people understand their value in the eyes of Jesus and to encourage complete restoration through faith. The mission believes that with the support of faith, individuals can overcome homelessness and transform their lives.
