It also included the largest graduating class in its history.

Grand Canyon University (GCU) is celebrating a historic milestone as it concludes its 75th anniversary year with its largest-ever graduating class, exceeding 31,000 students for the 2024–25 academic year. This achievement marks the fourth consecutive year that GCU has graduated approximately 30,000 students annually, continuing its growth despite challenges faced by the higher education sector.

Among the graduates, nearly half earned bachelor’s degrees, while the remainder completed graduate programs. A notable portion of the graduating class is entering fields with significant labor shortages, such as education, healthcare, and social work. The university has been instrumental in preparing students for careers in teaching, nursing, and social work, which are vital to addressing national workforce needs.

GCU President Brian Mueller commended the university’s expansion, attributing it to the dedication of both students and faculty. The institution has also responded to evolving industry demands by launching over 140 new academic programs in recent years. This approach aligns with GCU’s mission of equipping students with the skills needed to succeed in today’s job market while meeting the needs of employers.

Despite ongoing legal challenges, particularly disputes with the U.S. Department of Education regarding its nonprofit status, GCU remains the largest Christian university in the United States. The university has seen impressive enrollment figures, with more than 123,000 students, including nearly 25,000 on its Phoenix campus and over 98,000 participating in online programs.

Founded in 1949 and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, GCU continues to integrate Christian principles into its academic offerings. Its success in adapting to the needs of modern education while staying true to its Christian values reflects a growing demand for faith-based educational opportunities.
