Gateway Church Welcomes Its New Leader
Daniel Floyd, the newly appointed senior pastor of Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, received a warm welcome from the congregation alongside his wife, Tammie. This marked his first Sunday message since the announcement of his new leadership role. During his sermon, Floyd expressed deep gratitude for the congregation’s reception and shared his belief that the church’s best days are ahead. He encouraged the church to seek God’s presence not only within the church walls but also in their broader community, affirming a vision rooted in faith and hope.
Tammie Floyd, speaking after her husband, echoed his sentiments and shared a heartfelt message from the book of Lamentations. She emphasized God’s unwavering mercy and faithfulness, expressing how meaningful the moment felt for their family. She also introduced their four children and promised the family would be fully involved in church life, underlining their commitment to becoming part of the Gateway community.
Before delivering his sermon, Daniel Floyd highlighted the importance of collective effort in building a strong church. He told the congregation that great churches are not the result of great pastors alone but are built through the faithfulness and service of the people. He called on everyone to join in the work of reaching others with the message of Jesus and expressed confidence that God would do amazing things through their unity.
Floyd’s appointment follows the resignation of Gateway’s founding pastor, Robert Morris, who stepped down amid serious allegations. Prior to joining Gateway, Daniel and Tammie Floyd led Lifepoint Church, which they founded in Virginia in 2005. Under their leadership, the church grew to multiple campuses and also launched a college dedicated to ministry training. Their years of experience and growth at Lifepoint helped prepare them for this next chapter in Texas.
The Floyds are planning to relocate to Texas in time for the new school year. In a message to the Gateway congregation, they described this new role not just as a career move but as a divine calling. They shared how their decision was guided by prayer, mentorship, and conversations with Gateway’s elders. Confident in their sense of purpose, the Floyds are ready to begin this new journey and serve their new church family with dedication.
