They are promoting a new Catholic app.

Actor, producer, and entrepreneur Mark Wahlberg joined forces with actor Jonathan Roumie from “The Chosen” to promote prayer during Super Bowl LVIII in a commercial for the Catholic app Hallow.

The commercial, aired during the game on Sunday, featured Wahlberg and Roumie, known for his role as Jesus in “The Chosen,” encouraging viewers to embrace prayer during the Lenten season, which spans from February 14th to March 28th. In the 30-second ad, Wahlberg expressed gratitude to God and urged viewers to participate in prayer using the Hallow app, designed to facilitate personalized prayer experiences on-the-go.

Hallow’s co-founder and CEO, Alex Jones, highlighted the app’s mission to engage individuals in prayer, catering to both devout believers and those seeking to deepen their spiritual connection. The collaboration with Wahlberg and Roumie for the Super Bowl commercial aimed to extend this invitation to millions of viewers, emphasizing the accessibility and inclusivity of prayer through technology.

Since its launch in December 2018, the Hallow app has garnered over 10,000 sessions and has been downloaded approximately 10 million times. It offers a range of features including daily prayers, rosaries, Gospel readings, novenas, and teachings from prominent figures like Father Mike Schmitz and Bishop Barron.

Wahlberg’s involvement with Hallow extends beyond the Super Bowl commercial. In an appearance on the “Today” show in February 2023, he discussed how he integrates his Catholic faith into his daily life, particularly during the Lenten season. Sporting ashes on his forehead in the shape of a cross for Ash Wednesday, Wahlberg emphasized the importance of fasting and spiritual discipline, encouraging users to detach from negative habits and strive for personal growth.

Through his partnership with Hallow, Wahlberg aims to inspire individuals to pursue spiritual growth and self-improvement, emphasizing the transformative power of prayer and faith in leading a more fulfilling life.
