QB Credits Faith As Chiefs Head To Super Bowl

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes praised God after his team secured a spot in Super Bowl LIX, marking their third consecutive appearance. The Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC Championship game, earning the opportunity to compete for the title.

In his post-game interview with CBS Sports, Mahomes expressed his gratitude, stating, “I want to give all glory to God,” and emphasizing that “without Him, none of this is possible.” He reiterated his thanks on social media, sharing a heartfelt post that simply read, “Thank you, God!”

The Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, set for February 9 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. A win would make the Chiefs the first NFL team to claim three consecutive Super Bowl victories, while a Philadelphia win would mark the Eagles’ first title since their Super Bowl LII victory in 2018.

Throughout his career, Mahomes has been vocal about the role of his Christian faith. In 2020, ahead of Super Bowl LIV, Mahomes described his faith as integral to his life, noting that while he strives to win every game, his focus remains on glorifying God. He explained that as long as he’s doing things in alignment with God’s will, he can leave the field with pride, regardless of the outcome.

In previous years, Mahomes has consistently acknowledged God’s influence on his career. After the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII win, he thanked God, attributing their success to divine guidance. He also credited God’s strength for helping him recover from an ankle injury ahead of Super Bowl LVII. Mahomes frequently reflects on how his faith shapes his actions, both on and off the field, and aims to honor God through his success.
