He went from skeptic to believer.
For centuries, people from all walks of life—scholars, theologians, and everyday believers—have questioned whether miracles still occur in the modern world. Are they tangible signs of divine intervention, or merely tales tied to ancient times and scripture?
While many people of faith see unexpected recoveries—like the sudden disappearance of a tumor—as divine acts, the scientific world often views these events with skepticism, leaning on inconclusive or limited studies rather than embracing spiritual explanations.
Billy Hallowell, an investigative journalist with CBN News, is a firm believer in miracles. Motivated by curiosity and conviction, he set out to explore the personal experiences of those who claim to have witnessed or lived through such events. His goal: to examine how these stories align with biblical teachings and whether credible evidence supports their authenticity.
“It really comes down to our faith,” Hallowell reflects. He also hosts The Inside Story on the Edifi Podcast Network. “If we trust in Scripture and hold on to hope, we need to be willing to accept that God might still act in ways that are beyond our understanding. That discomfort, that uncertainty, is often what makes miracles difficult for people to accept.”
In his new documentary, Investigating the Supernatural: Miracles, Hallowell travels across the U.S., gathering compelling stories from medical professionals, religious leaders, and individuals who claim to have encountered miraculous healing. His investigation aims to determine whether miracles are still happening—and what they might mean for people today.
“What really stood out to me,” Hallowell shares, “was the consistent theme in these stories. Every person who experienced healing pushed forward with unwavering belief. They fought for that miracle, and they truly believed it was possible.”
