He’s on the road to recovery.

John MacArthur has been discharged from the hospital after facing complications during his recovery from heart and lung surgeries. He is now continuing his recovery at home, as confirmed by a leader at Grace To You.

The 85-year-old pastor, widely known for his Evangelical ministry and theological teachings, has dealt with several health setbacks in recent months, including multiple heart surgeries and subsequent lung surgery. These challenges required an extended stay in the hospital, but he was eventually released, according to a tweet from Grace To You Executive Director Phil Johnson, who is also an elder at MacArthur’s Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California.

MacArthur’s recovery was carefully monitored by medical teams, and he received physical therapy following long periods of bed rest. There were earlier inaccurate reports about his discharge, but Johnson clarified that MacArthur’s condition continued to require ongoing treatment and testing.

MacArthur’s health has been a topic of much discussion online, leading to various rumors that needed to be addressed. Johnson dismissed claims that MacArthur had entered palliative care, calling such reports misleading. He emphasized that only those closely involved with MacArthur’s care had access to detailed information about his recovery.

In November, MacArthur had spoken at a church service, sharing his gratitude for his life despite his health challenges, acknowledging the difficulties he faced following three heart surgeries and lung surgery. He expressed his thankfulness for the grace of God throughout his struggles. Johnson, who is also dealing with health issues of his own, has been instrumental in keeping the community updated on MacArthur’s condition while respecting his wish for privacy regarding personal health matters.
