The world is changing for the worse.
In a recent sermon series titled “The War of 2024,” Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills addressed the societal perception of masculinity and its implications for Christian men. He emphasized the importance of embodying “biblical masculinity” as a counterbalance to the prevailing notion of toxic masculinity.
Highlighting the cultural narrative that undermines traditional male roles, Hibbs lamented the assault on men, attributing it to direct attacks from Satan. He criticized the notion that men should suppress their strength and leadership abilities, arguing that such beliefs are detrimental to the fabric of society.
To illustrate his point, Hibbs referenced a PragerU video featuring Allie Beth Stuckey, who advocated for embracing, rather than diminishing, masculine traits. Stuckey argued that attempting to feminize men only exacerbates negative behaviors, asserting that when properly channeled, masculine attributes can be powerful forces for good.
Hibbs echoed Stuckey’s sentiments, asserting that society’s problem lies not in an excess of masculinity, but rather in its scarcity. He urged parents to instill biblical principles of masculinity and femininity in their children from a young age, citing Proverbs 22:6 as guidance for nurturing them in accordance with God’s design.
In practical terms, Hibbs encouraged parents to steer their children towards activities and interests aligned with their gender, rejecting societal pressures that blur traditional distinctions. He emphasized the importance of equipping children with the values and virtues prescribed by scripture, thereby fortifying them against the influences of the world.
Ultimately, Hibbs framed the issue as a spiritual battle for the hearts and minds of future generations, urging his congregation to stand firm in their faith and resist the cultural currents that seek to undermine biblical principles of masculinity and femininity.
