His faith is on display.

Marco Rubio, who was recently inaugurated as Secretary of State, concluded his oath of office by openly expressing his gratitude to God and Jesus Christ, acknowledging their significance in his life. He emphasized that his faith is his highest priority, underscoring the influence of religion on his worldview. Rubio also affirmed that his primary goal in his new role would be to bolster the U.S. through foreign policy, with a focus on ensuring national security and prosperity.

Rubio’s religious journey is varied. Although baptized as a Roman Catholic, he spent part of his youth attending Mormon services while living in Nevada. Upon returning to Miami, he resumed his Catholic faith. Today, Rubio and his wife, Jeanette, also participate in Protestant Evangelical services, illustrating the diverse religious influences that continue to shape his life.

With 14 years of experience in the U.S. Senate, particularly on the Foreign Relations Committee, Rubio brings extensive knowledge to his new position. He has been notably active in regions such as the Indo-Pacific, Middle East, and Latin America. Rubio is recognized for his strong support of NATO and his opposition to Russian aggression, often viewed as a staunch advocate of national security on the global stage.

In addition to his foreign policy expertise, Rubio has played a role in shaping the Republican Party’s stance on abortion. Leading up to the 2024 presidential election, he supported a more flexible approach, favoring decisions on abortion to be made at the state level rather than imposing a federal ban. He argued that the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade returned the issue to voters, reflecting his practical approach to controversial subjects.

As Secretary of State, Rubio is expected to lean on his extensive foreign policy background, strong religious values, and a pragmatic approach to addressing difficult political issues.
