American Actor Takes On Hollywood With Faith-Based Kids’ Show
Kirk Cameron and Brave Books have launched Adventures with Iggy and Mr. Kirk, a new children’s series aimed at providing wholesome, faith-based entertainment as an alternative to mainstream programming. The show, set to debut in early 2025 on Brave Books’ YouTube channel, blends biblical lessons with engaging adventures. At the series’ premiere, Cameron shared his hope that the show would help parents teach values like forgiveness, teamwork, and courage in a format that resonates with kids.
The series follows Iggy, an adventurous iguana, and his mentor, Mr. Kirk, played by Cameron. Produced by a team with experience on projects like VeggieTales and The Muppets, the show strives to match the quality of popular children’s programming while delivering content rooted in Judeo-Christian values. Cameron noted that many parents are looking for alternatives to platforms like Disney and Nickelodeon, which they feel often promote agendas conflicting with traditional family values.
Leigh-Allyn Baker, formerly of Disney Channel, also contributed to the project. She highlighted the increasing moral complexity of modern children’s media, emphasizing that the show aims to bring back the standards of wholesome, enriching entertainment. Baker reflected on her time with Disney, expressing concern about the loss of values once upheld in children’s programming and urging families to critically evaluate the media their children consume.
The project is part of Brave Books’ broader mission to combat cultural shifts that they believe undermine traditional values. Founder Trent Talbot emphasized the importance of meeting families where they are—on screens—by creating content that addresses modern challenges from a biblical perspective. Through engaging stories, the show aims to empower parents and children to embrace values like honesty, trustworthiness, and courage.
