Model Ditches Fame For Spiritual Quest
An Italian model, once hailed as the “most beautiful man,” has revealed his decision to forsake dreams of fame and fortune in pursuit of priesthood.
Edoardo Santini, in a recent social media video, disclosed his path toward priesthood at 21, expressing his intention to relinquish modeling, acting, and dance careers while embracing his passions in a different light. “I’m on the journey to become a priest, if it’s God’s will,” he affirmed, announcing his entry into a seminary and commencement of studies.
Originally from near Florence, Santini clinched the title of “most beautiful man” at 17 in ABE’s 2019 pageant and excelled in swimming competitions. While his Instagram primarily showcased his modeling ventures, his recent posts have delved into inquiries about faith, reflecting on his discovery of a “living Church” last year, as reported by The Times UK.
Acknowledging initial fears of delving deeper into his faith, Santini shared his transformative experience living with two priests, labeling it as “the most beautiful” phase of his life. The Catholic Church has faced challenges in recruiting new priests, with a sharp decline in numbers over recent decades. Despite criticism and mixed reactions, Santini, who now describes himself as a “Christian, priest wannabe,” expressed resolve in his decision, asserting his happiness and readiness to embark on this transformative journey.
Santini admitted uncertainty about his ultimate path, expressing openness to discovery and personal growth within the seminary. “I’ve taken the step that once terrified me, preventing me from truly being myself. I’m prepared to acknowledge any missteps,” he declared in his video.
In this bold shift, Santini looks forward to the exploration of his newfound calling, asserting his readiness to embrace whatever lies ahead.
