Trump’s Faith At Crucial Turning Point
Following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during a rally near Butler, Pennsylvania, three notable religious leaders are expressing hope that the incident might be a pivotal moment in Trump’s spiritual journey. Trump himself has attributed his survival to divine intervention.
Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Church in California discussed the event on Trinity Broadcasting Network, highlighting Trump’s acknowledgment that only God prevented the attack. Laurie remarked that this recognition of divine protection is highly significant and expressed hope that it could lead to a deeper faith for Trump. Laurie, who has prayed with Trump on multiple occasions, wished that this experience would strengthen Trump’s relationship with Jesus Christ.
Similarly, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary President Albert Mohler shared their reflections on the “Washington Watch with Tony Perkins” podcast. Perkins expressed appreciation for Trump’s recognition of God’s role in his protection, hoping it would lead to a more profound understanding of God’s influence in his life. Mohler echoed this sentiment, praying that the close call would serve as a meaningful turning point in Trump’s spiritual life.
Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills also addressed Trump directly in his sermon, urging him to use this experience as an opportunity to deepen his faith. Hibbs pointed out that despite the injury, Trump was spared from more severe harm and called on him to embrace a genuine relationship with God rather than just speaking about Him.
In addition to these religious leaders, Dr. Ben Carson, former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, also spoke about the incident at the Republican National Convention, asserting his belief that God provided protection for Trump. The assassination attempt, which resulted in the death of rally attendee Corey Comperatore, has sparked calls from both religious figures and President Joe Biden to reduce intense political rhetoric as the 2024 presidential election approaches.
Well, I agree absolutely that Trump has been given a golden opportunity to enrich his relationship with his savior. He claims to be very private about it. But Kamala has already put out an ugly ad about him, and she has nothing to recommend her. He must fight fire with fire, don’t you think?
