Pastor Reveals God’s Plan For President-Elect
Pastor Greg Laurie recently shared a message asserting that President-elect Donald Trump had received a “mandate” from the American people to lead the nation. He also warned that a potential Harris administration might have led to greater government hostility toward Christians. Laurie emphasized that Americans are growing weary of what he called the “crazy, woke agenda” of the past few years, which he believes includes controversial issues like late-term abortions, gender identity debates, and the inclusion of transgender individuals in women’s sports and bathrooms. He expressed his belief that God had placed Trump in this position at a pivotal moment in U.S. history.
Drawing a parallel to the biblical story of Queen Esther, Laurie explained that just as Esther was positioned by God to save the Jewish people, Trump’s leadership was divinely timed to address challenges facing the nation. He also pointed out the significant obstacles Trump has faced, including two assassination attempts, which Trump himself has said he believes God protected him from, a sentiment Laurie affirmed. Laurie compared Trump’s experience to former President Ronald Reagan’s survival of an assassination attempt in 1981, which, Laurie noted, marked a turning point in Reagan’s leadership and role in the end of the Cold War.
Laurie further suggested that had the Democrats won the recent election, Christians and churches might have faced more political pressure, and that their rights could have been threatened. He described this outcome as a “reprieve” for American Christians, allowing them to continue practicing their faith and fulfilling their mission. Laurie highlighted the importance of religious freedom, especially the ability to preach and teach the Word of God in accordance with the First Amendment. He also emphasized the responsibility of Christians to pray for their leaders, regardless of political affiliation.
Reflecting on his own involvement in political events, Laurie noted that he prayed at a rally for Trump in Coachella, California, and would have done so for a Harris rally if invited. He clarified that his involvement in any political event is always in service to Christ, with the primary goal of pointing people to the gospel. Laurie also addressed the issue of church and state, noting that the phrase “separation of church and state” originates from a letter by Thomas Jefferson, not from the Constitution. He argued that Jefferson’s intention was to keep the government out of the church, not to keep the church out of government.
In closing, Laurie underscored the role of Christians in society, encouraging them to be active and visible in the culture, serving as “light” and “salt” as instructed by Jesus. He emphasized that Christians are called to influence and permeate the culture with the values of the Kingdom of God.
