Report Confirms Misconduct By Ministry Founder

An independent investigation has found credible allegations of inappropriate behavior by Michael Brown, founder of the Fire School of Ministry and The Line of Fire – Dr. Brown Ministries, Inc. The firm FireFly conducted the investigation, which focused on claims made by two women: Sarah Monk, a former ministry member, and another woman from Brown’s church community who has since passed away. After reviewing evidence and conducting interviews, investigators concluded that Brown’s actions violated ethical standards expected of a ministry leader, undermining trust within the community.

The investigation was launched after the ministry’s board hired the law firm Mitchell, Stein, Carey, and Chapman to oversee a third-party inquiry into the accusations. The Line of Fire Board recently confirmed receipt of the FireFly report and stated they are currently reviewing it. Prior to the investigation’s completion, Brown admitted to poor judgment but denied any sexual misconduct, describing Monk as someone he regarded like a family member. He also temporarily deactivated his social media to avoid commenting publicly during the process.

Monk alleged that her relationship with Brown began when she was 18, while attending the Brownsville Revival School of Ministry. After Brown’s departure from that institution, she followed him to his newly established school in Florida. Monk said Brown encouraged her to call him “Dad” and that their relationship included exchanging affectionate notes. Over time, Monk alleged that the relationship became physically inappropriate, with incidents of hand-holding, kissing, and unwelcome touching.

Witnesses, including former ministry employees, corroborated observations of what they described as inappropriate behavior between Brown and Monk, such as her sitting on his lap. Brown, however, has continued to deny the allegations, expressing shock and dismay at what he claims are misrepresentations. He emphasized that he and his wife Nancy viewed Monk as a family member and supported the decision for a full independent investigation.
