Actress Shares Her Mission Through Christmas Films

Candace Cameron Bure, often called the “Queen of Christmas,” has built a successful career over the past 15 years by starring in numerous holiday films, especially those that focus on family-friendly themes. Known for her role as D.J. Tanner on Full House, Bure’s passion for making Christmas movies is fueled by the opportunity to share the Gospel and highlight the hope found in Jesus. She expresses a deep love for her work and the impact it has on audiences, emphasizing how important it is for her to share faith-based messages in her films.

In 2022, Bure transitioned from her longtime association with the Hallmark Channel to take on the role of chief content officer at Great American Family, a network she feels aligns more closely with her values. She appreciated the network’s commitment to offering films that go beyond romance and focus on faith, family, and the true meaning of Christmas. Bure’s desire is not only to entertain but to share stories that have deeper significance, reminding viewers of the hope and joy that come with the holiday season.

Bure’s latest projects reflect this approach. One of her recent films, A Christmas Less Traveled, premiered in November on Great American Pure Flix and explores themes of grief, forgiveness, faith, and hope as the protagonist, Desi, embarks on a journey of self-discovery following the death of her father. Another film, Home Sweet Christmas, airing in December, reunites her with longtime friend and co-star Cameron Mathison in a heartwarming rom-com about childhood friends reconnecting while dealing with the sale of a family farm.

Outside of her acting career, Bure is helping spread holiday cheer through the Great American Family’s Christmas Festival, a festive event in New York that features screenings, ice skating, and workshops. She sees this as another way to create experiences that bring people together and celebrate the magic of the season. Additionally, through her production company, Candy Rock Entertainment, Bure is not only acting but also creating and producing family and faith-based content, such as Unsung Hero, a film about the Smallbone family that won awards for its inspirational storytelling.

Bure is passionate about providing content that serves an underserved audience, particularly those seeking faith-based entertainment. She believes that the faith community has long been overlooked in Hollywood, but with the growing momentum of faith-based films, she remains optimistic about the future. Through her work, she hopes to continue telling inspiring stories that invite people to explore faith and connect with meaningful, uplifting content.
