Christian rapper Bryson Gray has firmly stood by his criticism of Lil Nas X, calling on Christians to denounce the openly gay rapper for what he sees as the mockery of Jesus Christ. Lil Nas X, renowned for his hit “Old Town Road,” has come under scrutiny as he teased the commencement of his “Christian era” and faced accusations of ridiculing Jesus through his latest single “J Christ,” released last Friday.

Gray, a 32-year-old Christian rapper known for his anti-Joe Biden anthem “Let’s Go Brandon,” expressed his disapproval of the imagery in Lil Nas X’s video, deeming it “blasphemous” and accusing him of “mocking Christians.” Responding to those suggesting that Christians shouldn’t pay attention to Lil Nas X, Gray took to Instagram, asserting that Christians should unite to rebuke him for his actions rather than turning a blind eye.

According to Gray, Lil Nas X should serve as a rallying point for Christians to come together, stressing the importance of calling out sin and defending their faith. He challenged Christian conservatives who readily criticize celebrities opposing Donald Trump but hesitate to rebuke Lil Nas X for blaspheming Jesus.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Gray suggested that Lil Nas X might be a “reprobate,” as described in Romans 1, accusing him of using Christian imagery to mock the faith for attention. Gray questioned Lil Nas X’s sincerity, stating that a genuine commitment to Christianity would involve apologizing for past actions and acknowledging the harm caused.

Another Christian rapper, Holy Gabbana, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the straightforwardness of professing faith and renouncing sins for someone truly accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior. He criticized Lil Nas X for metaphorically putting himself on the cross, casting doubt on the authenticity of his commitment to Christianity.

In contrast, Christian rapper Lecrae called for a response of “forgiveness and love” towards Lil Nas X. He urged Christians to remember the transformative power of grace and to approach individuals like Lil Nas X with empathy, taking into account their background and experiences.

While Lecrae acknowledged Lil Nas X’s actions as potentially provocative and risking moral consequences, he emphasized the potential for transformation through divine grace. The differing perspectives within the Christian rap community underscore the ongoing debate over the appropriate response to Lil Nas X’s controversial actions and the role of forgiveness in addressing such contentious issues.
