He needs to repent for his actions.

The International House of Prayer in Kansas City has taken the significant step of severing ties with its founder, Mike Bickle, amidst disturbing allegations of clergy abuse.

In an official video statement, IHOPKC spokesperson Eric Volz disclosed the ministry’s decision to permanently dissociate from Bickle, the visionary behind the 24/7 prayer ministry initiated in 1999. Volz emphasized that new information received by the executive committee solidified concerns of inappropriate behavior by Bickle, necessitating an immediate and permanent separation.

Simultaneously, Executive Director Stuart Greaves opted to resign from his position within the ministry and relinquish his role on the board of directors. While the exact reasons for Greaves’ resignation remain undisclosed, Gen. Kurt Fuller has been tasked with managing the crisis temporarily, assuming the responsibilities of the executive director.

Volz underscored the profound impact Greaves has had on the IHOPKC community during his remarkable 23-year tenure. Acknowledging his pivotal role in teaching, leadership, and devotion to Jesus, Greaves’ influence extended from overseeing the NightWatch program to serving as executive director for the past three years.

Regarding the allegations against Bickle, IHOPKC is exercising discretion pending an independent investigation. Volz stressed the utmost importance of respecting the privacy of those affected by misconduct, with Gen. Fuller overseeing a comprehensive investigation and subsequent implementation of necessary policy changes to prevent future occurrences.

These allegations surfaced in October, brought to light by an advocacy group that included founding member Dwayne Roberts, former executive team member Brian Kim, and former Forerunner Church pastor Wes Martin. Initially stepping away from his duties pending investigation, Bickle faced allegations from multiple women. However, subsequent findings by the ministry raised doubts about the veracity of some claims.

The one substantiated allegation predates IHOPKC’s inception and involves a woman who publicly shared details of incidents dating back over two decades. Despite acknowledging past inappropriate behavior, Bickle has refuted certain specific allegations of sexual misconduct.

In response to the complexities of the situation, IHOPKC hired a third-party investigator and established a Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Bickle publicly admitted to past inappropriate and sinful conduct but disputed certain allegations.

Volz appealed for prayers during this challenging period, acknowledging the potential distress and shock caused by these developments. He urged respect and consideration for all parties involved, emphasizing IHOPKC’s unwavering commitment to their prayer movement amidst these turbulent circumstances.
