They dominated and secured the win.

Colorado Christian University (CCU) made history by winning its first National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) title in men’s golf. The university’s men’s golf team triumphed in the Division II Men’s Golf Championship, securing the victory by defeating the University of North Georgia in a grueling five-day competition. This victory marks a significant milestone for CCU, as it is their first NCAA National Title.

Head Coach Mark Hull credited the success to the foundation built by former players, expressing pride in the team’s current members and their contribution to the program. Hull praised the players for their character and dedication, emphasizing their commitment to representing Christian values both on and off the course. He highlighted the significance of the platform provided by this victory to showcase their faith.

The championship, held at the Orange County National Golf Center in Winter Garden, Florida, saw CCU advance through regional competitions before reaching the finals. Competing in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the team faced stiff competition in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where they tied for second place with Oklahoma Christian University (OCU), securing a spot in the finals. Initially tied for seventh place after three days of competition, CCU excelled in the final two days of head-to-head “Medal Match” events, ultimately defeating North Georgia to win the National Title.

Key performances from players like Bradley Mulder, Xavier Bighaus, Dylan Arthur, and Peyton Jones were instrumental in the team’s success. The decisive moment came when Adam Duncan, leading by one stroke on the 18th hole, executed a crucial birdie to clinch the championship for his team. This victory not only marked a historic achievement for CCU but also represented the first NCAA championship won by any men’s golf team in the history of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

CCU’s season was already remarkable with four previous victories and their first-ever RMAC Championship. The national title further cemented their place in history, being the first title at any level won by a Colorado-based golf team. This achievement highlights the dedication and talent of the CCU men’s golf team, setting a new standard for future competitions.
