The elders refuse to disclose the issue.
Kemtal Glasgow, the executive pastor at Gateway Church, has been dismissed due to a “moral issue,” according to an announcement from the church based in Southlake, Texas. Tra Willbanks, a senior elder at the church, revealed in a YouTube video that Glasgow’s departure was effective as of Monday. Willbanks explained that the church’s elders deemed the moral issue significant enough to disqualify Glasgow from his role. He expressed support for Glasgow’s family and asked the congregation to pray for them during this challenging time.
Adana Wilson, the campus pastor at Gateway Church Frisco, will assume Glasgow’s responsibilities, Willbanks noted. The church’s executive director, Lawrence Swicegood, emphasized that Glasgow’s dismissal is unrelated to the recent departure of Robert Morris, the church’s founder. Swicegood clarified that Glasgow’s situation stemmed from a personal moral failure, and the church is focused on supporting him and his family as they navigate this period.
Robert Morris resigned on June 18 after being accused of long-term sexual abuse by Cindy Clemishire, which she alleged began when she was 12 years old. Following Morris’s resignation, Gateway Church initiated an independent investigation into the claims. The church has also seen other key figures leave, including founding elder Steve Dulin, who faced allegations of financial misconduct and bullying. James Morris, who briefly took over after his father, and his wife, Bridgette, also departed from the church.
The church’s elders have sought guidance from various pastors and leaders regarding these departures and expressed confidence in the future leadership potential of James and Bridgette Morris. They affirmed their appreciation for their service and commitment to the church, despite their departure.
Somehow, I don’t trust any pastors for churches founded overnight by just anyone. There are too many, like Scientology, and others who pop up overnight, and most are good, but there are a few who spoil it for the faithful.
Sounds like a real mess!!!!!
Why is this an internal investigation? It’s supposed to be reported to the police.
