He was saved twice.

Country rap artist Colt Ford, whose birth name is Jason Farris Brown, attributes his survival to divine intervention, revealing that he faced death twice after a heart attack in recent weeks.

The 54-year-old musician experienced the cardiac event on April 5 following a performance at Gilbert, Arizona’s Dierks Bentley Whiskey Row venue. In an interview on the “Big D & Bubba” syndicated radio show on April 23, Ford disclosed the harrowing experience, recounting how he essentially passed away twice before being revived in the intensive care unit of Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona.

Initially given slim odds of survival by medical professionals, Ford expressed gratitude for what he perceives as a higher purpose guiding his fate. He believes that God spared his life to fulfill greater endeavors within a divine plan, stating, “The Lord had more for me to do, more music for me to make, hopefully more differences to make in some people’s lives.”

Despite his miraculous recovery, Ford received a stern reminder from doctors to prioritize his health as he embarks on the road to recovery.

Reflecting on the night of the heart attack, Ford recalled fragments of memory leading up to the incident, including moments of communication with loved ones. He vividly described texting his fiancée before collapsing, remarking, “I died two times. Luckily, my band came out to check on me.”

Ford acknowledged that receiving prompt medical attention played a pivotal role in his survival, emphasizing that the outcome could have been drastically different had the incident occurred elsewhere.

His faith has long been a cornerstone of his identity, evident in his declaration that he prioritizes “God, family, friends, and America.” Even before this health scare, Ford’s steadfast belief in a higher power has been central to his character.

During his hospitalization, Ford reached out to the public for prayers, underscoring the significance of communal support during trying times.

Ford’s health journey has been fraught with challenges, including a battle with eye cancer in 2021, which prompted surgery and chemotherapy. This experience, along with subsequent diagnoses, has reshaped his outlook on life, reinforcing his belief in divine providence and resilience in the face of adversity.

Despite grappling with an autoimmune disorder affecting his facial muscles and eyes, Ford remains determined to overcome these obstacles, demonstrating a resilience that reflects his unwavering spirit and commitment to his craft.
