Actor Breaks Silence On Alleged Hex By Ex-Wife
Christian actor and pastor Kel Mitchell recently shared a profound personal experience during an interview on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast. He recounted a troubling period in his life, marked by what he described as a “toxic” relationship with his ex-wife. During an intense prayer session led by an evangelist, Mitchell claimed to have been freed from multiple demons and discovered that his ex-wife had hexed him.
Known for his roles in “All That” and “Kenan & Kel,” Mitchell detailed his tumultuous relationship with his ex-wife, Tyisha Hampton. Although he did not name her directly, he spoke about her infidelities and how these, combined with other personal tragedies, led him to contemplate suicide in 2004. He revealed that he had already faced significant losses, including the murder of two uncles, and a decision with Hampton to abort a pregnancy early in their relationship.
Mitchell and Hampton were married from 1999 to 2005 and share two children. He disclosed that their marriage began under false pretenses, as Hampton later revealed that the child they had aborted was not his. This revelation, coupled with Hampton’s subsequent pregnancy by another man, strained their relationship further. Despite his efforts to keep the family together, their marriage ultimately fell apart.
Hampton has denied Mitchell’s claims in social media posts, accusing him of having a selective memory and alleging that he struggled with sex addiction and other issues during their marriage. She also claimed that he was sexually abused in the entertainment industry.
After the end of his marriage, Mitchell rededicated his life to God at a church in Canada. He described the process of divorcing Hampton as extremely traumatic and admitted to engaging in reckless behavior in subsequent relationships. Realizing he needed to focus on his personal and spiritual growth, he sought to develop a deeper relationship with God.
Mitchell recounted a transformative experience during a prayer session led by the mother of actor Chico Benymon, who is an evangelist. During this session, he and others experienced a dramatic spiritual cleansing, which he described as reminiscent of an exorcism. The evangelist identified that he needed to forgive his ex-wife, which led to Mitchell verbally forgiving her and releasing his anger.
During this intense prayer session, Mitchell claimed to experience spiritual warfare, with demons manifesting and speaking their names as they were expelled from his body. He described this as a physically exhausting yet spiritually enlightening experience, reaffirming his faith in God.
Reflecting on the deliverance, Mitchell emphasized the reality of spiritual warfare and his renewed connection with his faith, underscoring the profound impact this experience had on his life.
