A suspect has been caught.
An 18-year-old, R’Shunio Greer, has been arrested in connection with a shooting at Zionfield Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee, in February. The incident involved Pastor Clemmie Livingston Jr., who was shot in the face by still-unidentified carjackers. Greer, accused of driving the getaway car, faces charges of aggravated robbery and theft of property, along with multiple gun possession charges, as reported by WREG.
Court documents indicate that investigators linked Greer to the shooting after discovering photos of him in a car stolen from the church on the day of the incident. Greer allegedly admitted to driving away from the scene. His bond for the shooting case has been set at $250,000, with additional bonds bringing the total to $390,500.
Pastor Livingston was shot on February 25, just after 9 a.m., as he exited the church before the Sunday morning service. He recently shared his experience during his first sermon since the shooting, delivered on Easter Sunday.
During his message, Livingston expressed gratitude for being alive to celebrate Easter, quoting Peter from the Bible, “Lord, it’s good to be here.” He emphasized the importance of not taking life for granted and reflected on his nearly 40 years of ministry, acknowledging the need to continually reaffirm God’s promises.
Despite not intending to discuss the shooting, Livingston used the event to encourage his congregation to hold onto their faith during challenging times. He recounted the moments following the shooting, describing how he was hit by a stray bullet, fell to his knees, and felt blood everywhere. He remembered the support of Troy Franklin and his daughter Tracy, who kept him conscious.
Livingston recalled feeling he might die from his injuries but shared a divine message he received while on his knees: “Stop trying to die and start back living.” This message, he believed, was a sign from God that it wasn’t his time to go. The pastor’s story resonated deeply with his congregation, who responded with shouts of praise as he affirmed his faith and the presence of the Lord in his life.
