They are letting believers celebrate a great holiday.

As Easter approaches, Christians across the United States prepare to commemorate one of the most significant events in their faith. This holiday, which falls on a Sunday, marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ, following his crucifixion on Good Friday. For believers, it symbolizes the pinnacle of divine sacrifice and redemption.

Recognizing the importance of Easter, several major U.S. retail chains have decided to close their doors on this day to allow their employees to observe the occasion with their loved ones. TJX, the parent company of TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, and HomeSense, announced its decision to close all of its stores nationwide on March 31. This move reflects the company’s commitment to being employee-friendly and acknowledges the significance of spending time with family and friends during this holiday.

Similarly, warehouse giants Costco and Sam’s Club will also be closed on Easter Sunday, as will retail powerhouse Target and supermarket chain Publix. Even Macy’s department stores and H-E-B outlets will join the list of establishments observing the holiday by shutting their doors.

Lowe’s, known for its hardware stores, has a tradition of closing for Easter to show appreciation for its frontline workers. This decision, made in recognition of their dedication, allows employees to enjoy a well-deserved day off with their loved ones. However, Home Depot, Lowe’s primary competitor, will maintain regular business hours on Easter Sunday.

While many businesses will close for the holiday, others will remain open to serve customers. Dollar General, Kroger, Meijer, and Safeway are among the retailers that will keep their doors open, along with CVS, Walgreens, and Rite-Aid pharmacies, where customers can still pick up prescriptions.

As Easter Sunday approaches, customers are encouraged to check the operating hours of their local stores, as some establishments may have varying schedules for the holiday. Despite these differences, the overarching message remains one of reverence for the religious significance of Easter and appreciation for the opportunity to celebrate with loved ones.
