A Pennsylvania judge has temporarily prohibited Revival Today Church in Moon Township from hosting outdoor tent services due to noise complaints from nearby residents. The ruling, issued by Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Chelsa Wagner, will take effect on December 26.
The injunction follows complaints from 13 local families about the disruption caused by the church’s outdoor events, including noise and traffic. J.J. Richardson, the attorney representing these families, expressed satisfaction with the decision. He stated that his clients simply want Revival Today to adhere to the same rules as other residents and businesses in Moon Township, emphasizing that Judge Wagner made the correct legal decision.
Revival Today Church, however, declined to comment on the case when contacted by The Christian Post. The church began holding large outdoor events at its property on Coraopolis Heights Road in May, which led to several complaints from locals about the disturbances. Township officials assert that the church violated local zoning and ordinance regulations and must comply with these rules.
In defense of the church, David Strassburger, an attorney for Revival Today, argued that the township was unfairly targeting the church to appease local opposition. He claimed that the focus on noise, parking, and traffic was part of a broader attempt to shut the church down, which he believes is an easier path for the township to take.
Founded in 2007 by Jonathan and Adalis Shuttlesworth, Revival Today Church is committed to evangelistic ministry, particularly in reaching those who have not heard the Gospel. In addition to its Moon Township campus, the church holds services in Fort Worth, Texas, and organizes events nationwide. Since 2015, Jonathan Shuttlesworth has led numerous open-air crusades aimed at spreading the Gospel in America’s inner cities, with a focus on revival and outreach.
