The French Bible Society is giving them away.
The French Bible Society is set to distribute a special edition of the New Testament during the upcoming Paris Olympic Games. With the event imminent, their plan involves handing out 140,000 copies in French and 60,000 in English. This effort aims to create a lasting impact that extends beyond the sports competitions.
This unique edition of the New Testament includes personal testimonies from Christian athletes. Collaborating with various Christian sports ministries, the French Bible Society emphasizes the unity and shared values that transcend both sports and faith.
The edition is titled “More Precious than Gold,” inspired by 1 Peter 1:7, which speaks about the enduring nature of faith. This biblical passage compares faith to gold, stating that while gold can perish, faith, when tested, will result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
With an expected influx of over 11 million visitors to Paris for the Games, the distribution will span the duration of both the Olympics and Paralympics, ending on September 8. Initially, the plan was to distribute 100,000 copies in French and 30,000 in English, but high demand has led to an increase in the number of copies printed.
Jonathan Boulet, the General Secretary of the French Bible Society, expressed his admiration for the athletes’ testimonies included in the special edition. He noted that these stories serve as a powerful reminder of the Bible’s lasting relevance and highlighted the important role that Bible Societies play in ensuring the Bible remains accessible and impactful in today’s society.
