Pastors worldwide offered prayers for Lakewood Church in Houston after a woman opened fire inside the megachurch on Sunday afternoon, prompting law enforcement intervention resulting in her death.
The Houston Police Department reported that the unidentified woman, estimated to be in her thirties, entered the church around 2 p.m., armed and accompanied by a 5-year-old boy. Law enforcement officers intervened, resulting in the shooter’s death at the scene, while the boy remained critically injured, along with a 57-year-old man.
Authorities conducted a raid on a Conroe residence linked to the suspect, though the motive remains unclear.
In a public statement, Lakewood Church expressed devastation over the incident. Pastors across the nation took to social media to extend prayers and support.
