He is pledging to do this for his second term.
Former President Donald Trump, in response to being barred from the ballot in a state for the 2024 election due to alleged connections to the January 6 Capitol riot, has announced plans to establish a federal task force addressing what he termed as “anti-Christian bias.” While campaigning in Iowa, Trump pledged to tackle what he views as a growing persecution of Christians, emphasizing his commitment to ending what he perceives as a “war on Christians.”
Expressing concern over perceived governmental actions against religious beliefs during the Biden administration, Trump highlighted reports suggesting the targeting of Christians and people of faith, citing a House Judiciary Committee report alleging the FBI’s focus on traditional Catholics as “potential domestic terrorists.” He warned of potential future targeting of Evangelicals and outlined his intention, if re-elected, to prevent the government from being used against religious beliefs.
Central to Trump’s proposed plan is the formation of a reformed federal task force within the Justice Department aimed at investigating instances of what he views as illegal discrimination, harassment, and persecution of Christians across America. He strongly advocated for the importance of faith in the country’s foundation and criticized President Biden for allegedly omitting references to Jesus Christ in speeches marking religious holidays.
Despite not addressing the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision directly disqualifying him from the state’s ballot due to alleged engagement in insurrection, Trump’s spokesperson declared an intention to appeal the court’s ruling, denouncing it as deeply flawed. The decision was based on a section of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, prohibiting individuals involved in insurrection from holding office, a move dissented by Colorado Chief Justice Brian Boatwright, who argued that the court overstepped its jurisdiction in making such a determination.
In essence, Trump’s response to being barred from a state ballot involved a pledge to combat what he perceives as growing biases against Christianity, emphasizing the protection of religious freedoms and his intent to challenge the court’s decision regarding his eligibility for candidacy.
My prayers are with Trump and his family. I also pray those who serve our nation know they are treading on dangerous territory if they go against Christians. This nation is founded on Christianity.
I pray daily for our leaders in government, our religious leaders, our country…
