Pastor Predicts The Next Biblical Prophetic Event
In the midst of global upheaval, Robert Jeffress, the pastor of First Baptist Dallas, shared insights on how Christians should prepare for the End Times, dispelling common misconceptions and outlining what he believes lies ahead on the biblical prophetic timeline.
During an interview with The Christian Post, Jeffress, author of the book “Are We Living in the End Times?: Biblical Answers to 7 Questions about the Future,” clarified that while we may not be in the technical End Times, according to the Bible, we are indeed in what the scripture refers to as the “last days.” He stressed the importance of recognizing the certainty of Jesus Christ’s return and ensuring spiritual readiness rather than attempting to pinpoint the exact timing of these events.
Jeffress emphasized the significance of spiritual preparation, urging believers to clothe themselves in the righteousness of Jesus Christ rather than relying on their own merits. Drawing from 2 Corinthians 5, he highlighted the transformative power of Christ’s righteousness, which enables believers to stand blameless before God.
Additionally, Jeffress called on Christians to actively engage in spreading the Gospel, recognizing the urgency of the task amidst the impending return of Christ. He cautioned against three prevalent attitudes towards the End Times: fanaticism, fatalism, and cynicism, each of which poses a risk to a balanced understanding of biblical prophecy.
Regarding the prophetic timeline, Jeffress pointed to the rapture of the Church as the next significant event, citing 1 Thessalonians 4 as evidence. He distinguished the rapture from the Second Coming of Christ, noting the absence of specific prophecies preceding the former and emphasizing the need for constant readiness.
While studies have indicated widespread belief in the End Times among Americans, Jeffress lamented the silence on this topic within many churches. He underscored the importance of openly discussing the Second Coming of Christ, emphasizing its significance as both a warning and a promise within Christian theology.
Jeffress concluded by highlighting the responsibility of Christians to share the message of Christ’s return, echoing the sentiment expressed in a conversation between John F. Kennedy and Billy Graham. He urged churches not to keep this message hidden but to proclaim it boldly, recognizing it as an essential aspect of Christian faith and hope.
