Spiritual Awakening Sweeps Texas University
Last Thursday, a Gospel outreach event at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi attracted around 1,500 participants, many of whom underwent baptism. This event, orchestrated by New Life Young Adults—a branch of New Life Church and an official student group on campus—was featured in a Facebook post by pastors Michael and Bonnie Fehlauer.
The event, led by Pastor Tarik Whitmore, centered around a sermon inspired by Isaiah 6, focusing on themes such as conviction, purification, and being sent forth after an authentic encounter with God. Attendees heard testimonies from current and former students who spoke about their experiences with salvation, physical healing, and personal transformation.
Participants were given the chance to affirm their faith through water baptism, receive prayers for healing, and seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Whitmore observed that many were profoundly touched, with some exhibiting strong emotional reactions like crying and trembling, particularly after their baptisms.
The evening concluded with a commissioning segment, where attendees pledged to serve God on their campus, affirming their readiness with the declaration, “Here I am. Send me!” Whitmore noted that this year’s event demonstrated a more intense manifestation of the Holy Spirit compared to a similar event held last September, which had around 1,000 attendees and over 100 baptisms.
In a similar vein, Ohio State University recently held a revival that saw approximately 60 baptisms. Attendees reported a deeply moving experience, marked by a significant sense of the Spirit’s presence, setting it apart from previous events.
God is working in America! We need him in our country to save our country for our kids and grandkids!
Just wondering if the group believes a person needs to be baptized to be saved? Thank you for your response.
No!
Yes, unless, through no fault of their own ,they have never heard the Gospel
Read what God says about it: Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:37-38; John 3:5; Romans 6:3-5; 1Peter 3:21; Galatians 3:27.
Consider this: Can people be saved if their sins are not washed away? (Acts 22:16)
