Co-Founder Of Moms For Liberty Faces Resignation
Bridget Ziegler, co-founder of the Moms for Liberty parental rights organization, is facing calls to resign from her position on the Sarasota County Board of Education in Florida amidst a sex scandal involving her and her husband, Christian Ziegler, who chairs the Florida Republican Party.
The Sarasota County Board of Education, in a nonbinding resolution on Tuesday, urged Bridget Ziegler’s resignation due to “recent occurrences” revealed through a law enforcement investigation. The scandal centers around a three-way sexual encounter involving Bridget, her husband Christian, and another woman, as detailed in an affidavit from the Florida Center for Government Accountability.
The affidavit alleges that Christian Ziegler, despite the woman’s withdrawal, proceeded to the woman’s home on October 2 and allegedly raped her. Christian maintains his innocence, claiming the encounter was consensual. The resolution passed by the school board argues that Bridget’s continued service would distract from the board’s mission to oversee public schools, though they lack the authority to remove her.
Bridget Ziegler, elected in 2022 as part of a conservative majority on the board, has refused to voluntarily step down. Moms for Liberty, the organization she co-founded, acknowledged her past role but emphasized her resignation from the organization in 2021. The organization expressed support for parental rights but condemned the serious criminal allegations against Christian Ziegler. They called for a thorough investigation into the allegations.
Despite the controversy, Bridget Ziegler remains defiant, expressing disappointment at the board’s resolution. She referred to her continued service on another public board and asserted her commitment to fulfilling her duties.
Moms for Liberty, known for endorsing candidates aligned with their parental rights mission, has achieved notable success in school board elections. However, the organization faced criticism, particularly from the Southern Poverty Law Center, which included Moms for Liberty on its “hate map,” alleging discriminatory practices. The organization dismissed such accusations, emphasizing its commitment to parental rights amidst growing concerns about the incorporation of controversial ideologies into school curriculums nationwide.
Very refreshing

If these people are guilty, then they should have the integrity to step down!
