Dolly Parton Exemplifies Foundation Of Christian Teachings
Renowned country icon Dolly Parton recently condemned cancel culture, emphasizing the importance of forgiveness and second chances. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she expressed her belief that everyone, regardless of their actions, deserves redemption and a chance to rectify mistakes. Parton, a person of faith, tied this perspective to her belief in God’s capacity for forgiveness.
Highlighting her faith as a guiding force in her life, Parton mentioned that her beliefs influence all aspects of her existence. She referenced passages from the Bible, specifically citing Jesus’ teachings about the potential for all things through God.
Attributing her lasting success in the industry to her faith, the 77-year-old singer underscored the impact of her spiritual beliefs on her endurance and resilience.
Parton’s approach to others revolves around what she calls “God-light,” a perspective where she endeavors to see the inherent goodness within everyone, considering each individual as a fragment of divinity. She expressed her commitment to radiating this ‘God-light’ and recognizing the inherent goodness within people, even if it’s not immediately apparent, as she believes that everyone carries a piece of the divine within them. This perspective guides her in embracing and understanding others with empathy and compassion.
I agree with her to some extent. However, I am familiar with a scripture which says “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. Who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9 see verse 5 to know whose words these are)
