TV Host Ridicules Former President’s Divine Claims

Donald Trump, the former president and expected Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election, recently expressed his belief that his relationship with God is “good.” During an interview on “Fox & Friends,” he shared his appreciation for Evangelicals who have been praying faithfully for him and offering reassurance.

Although Trump did not delve into specifics about his prayer practices or current prayer habits, he acknowledged the support he receives from devout Evangelicals. He remarked on the overwhelming number of people who assure him of their prayers, expressing gratitude for their unwavering commitment and faith.

Reacting to Trump’s comments, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough criticized them on his show “Morning Joe,” dismissing them as “beyond parody” and “sad.” Scarborough found it incredulous that Trump seemed to deflect questions about his relationship with God by emphasizing Evangelicals’ support for him.

In a previous interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper in 2016, Trump had mentioned having a “great relationship” with God but admitted a reluctance to ask for forgiveness. He asserted his inclination towards goodness and claimed to live a virtuous life, avoiding behaviors he deemed “bad.”

Amid Trump’s recent legal troubles, some Christians, including self-described “prophets,” have publicly proclaimed his innocence and declared his trial in New York as rigged. They expressed confidence that God would intervene on Trump’s behalf, likening him to biblical figures like King David and predicting his eventual vindication over secular adversaries.
