Street Preacher Receives Backlash For His Behavior

An ex-street preacher caused a stir by dressing as the Grinch and positioning himself outside a U.S. elementary school, brandishing a sign that boldly declared ‘Santa is fake. Jesus is real.’ During the school’s pick-up time, 63-year-old David Grisham alleged he faced assault while asserting his First Amendment rights.

His account on social media detailed police involvement that he claimed limited his freedom of expression. A video capturing his stance against deceiving children was shared online, showing a brief altercation with an approaching man, likely a parent. Despite the clash, Grisham remained committed to his message, expressing disappointment at what he deemed societal endorsement of a “lie.” Amarillo Police clarified his lawful presence on the sidewalk, averting his arrest.

Following Grisham’s protest, a surge of 321 comments flooded his Facebook post, revealing a spectrum of opinions. Criticism varied from labeling him as unkind and lacking Christian values to accusations of intruding on the freedoms of parents and children. Some questioned his targeting of children’s innocence, arguing against disrupting festive spirit and traditions in such a manner.
