Cop Labeled ‘Emissary of Satan’ After Fatal Shooting
James Wilburn, the father of 36-year-old Sonya Massey, who was fatally shot by a sheriff’s deputy inside her Springfield, Illinois home earlier this month, has called the officer involved an “emissary of Satan.” Massey had reportedly rebuked Deputy Sean Grayson by saying “in the name of Jesus” before the shooting occurred.
Wilburn speculated that his daughter might have felt a premonition of danger, leading her to react strongly to Grayson. According to Wilburn, her reaction and the deputy’s response seemed inexplicable, suggesting a malevolent force influenced the officer’s actions.
On July 6, deputies were dispatched to Massey’s home after she reported someone prowling around. A statement from the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office initially claimed that shots were fired and Massey was struck after deputies arrived. The officers administered first aid, but Massey was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
However, body-camera footage released by the Illinois State Police reveals a different sequence of events. The video shows Massey, anxious and agitated, asking the officers not to hurt her. After engaging in brief conversation, Grayson and his partner waited before Massey opened the door. As the situation escalated, Massey said she rebuked Grayson in the name of Jesus, leading to a confrontation where Grayson fired his weapon multiple times.
Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell described the shooting as “unjustifiable and reckless,” stating that Grayson had other options and his actions did not reflect the training or values of the sheriff’s office. Grayson has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and official misconduct. Wilburn, who has two children and a history of heart issues, expressed his relief that the body-camera footage revealed the truth about his daughter’s death, which he initially misunderstood as a result of an intruder or other circumstances.
Daniel was also known for revealing the interpretation of dreams (Dan. 2:16-45, 4:4-27).
I thought so too
God gave the ability to interpret dreams to both Joseph and Daniel. I selected both, but only Joseph was indicated as correct. Either the quiz should allow both answers to be selected or only one of them should have been named in this quiz.
