Pastor Sparks Nationwide Spiritual Wave
A well-known megachurch pastor has urged Americans to follow Tennessee’s lead by engaging in a month of prayer and fasting. Pastor Jack Hibbs, delivering a sermon at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills in California, informed congregants that Tennessee’s Governor, Bill Lee, had endorsed a resolution calling for prayer and fasting throughout July to seek God’s mercy and healing for the state and the nation.
During the service, Hibbs shared a LifeSite news article detailing Governor Lee’s approval of the resolution, prompting enthusiastic applause from the congregation. He invited every pastor and Christian church in America to join Tennessee in this spiritual initiative, contrasting it with the perceived reluctance of California’s Governor Gavin Newsom to issue a similar call.
“We don’t depend on our governor to take such action,” Hibbs remarked, emphasizing that believers should heed the Holy Spirit’s call for prayer and fasting nationwide. He encouraged Californians and Americans alike to participate actively, suggesting that perhaps God is awaiting a collective awakening from the churches across the country.
Hibbs led the congregation in prayer, invoking God’s Holy Spirit to bring renewal and blessing not only to Tennessee but also to California and the entire nation. He urged attendees to share the service’s prayer segment on social media and commit to prayer throughout July.
The resolution, which designated July as a month of prayer and fasting in Tennessee, garnered overwhelming bipartisan support in the state legislature, highlighting concerns about various societal challenges such as violence, human trafficking, and addiction. It called upon citizens capable of doing so to participate in prayer and intermittent fasting, seeking divine guidance and mercy for personal and societal transformation.
State lawmakers, including Senator Mark Pody and Representative Monty Fritts, authors of the resolution, underscored their intention to read it aloud in churches and public spaces across Tennessee, emphasizing the need for repentance and collective prayer as integral to addressing contemporary challenges.
The initiative echoes historical calls to prayer by American leaders and founders, invoking past proclamations for national repentance and spiritual renewal. As the month of prayer and fasting unfolds, Hibbs and supporters hope to see a spiritual reawakening and positive transformation across Tennessee and beyond.
