Christian School Violence Claims 3 Lives
A tragic shooting occurred Monday at a private Christian school in Madison, Wisconsin, leaving at least three people dead, including the suspected shooter, and injuring six others. The incident took place at Abundant Life Christian School, located on E. Buckeye Road, just days before the start of the Christmas break. Authorities confirmed that the suspect was a teenage student at the school.
The shooting began shortly before 11 a.m. local time. Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple victims and identified the teenage suspect. Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes reported that the shooter, who was also a student at the school, died at the scene from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A handgun was recovered, and no officers discharged their weapons during the response.
The victims included a teacher and a teenage student. Six others were hospitalized with injuries. Chief Barnes stated that the shooting was confined to a single area of the school, but further details were not provided. Investigators are working to determine the motive behind the attack, and the suspect’s family is cooperating with law enforcement.
In a media briefing, Chief Barnes emphasized the lasting impact of the tragedy, calling everyone present at the school “victims forever.” He refrained from disclosing the gender of the shooter and assured the public that authorities are piecing together the events leading up to the incident.
Abundant Life Christian School, established in 1978, serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade in a faith-centered environment. In response to the tragedy, the school posted on Facebook, requesting prayers and support for their community as they navigate the aftermath of this devastating event.
