Everyone deserves to hear the Gospel.

Research conducted by London City Mission (LCM) reveals that while most Christians possess confidence in sharing their faith, their comfort levels vary depending on the audience.

The study indicates a higher inclination among Christians to share the Gospel with friends and family (42% each), closely followed by non-Christian colleagues in the workplace (37%). However, when it comes to individuals from different social backgrounds or marginalized groups such as the homeless or asylum seekers, the willingness to share decreases to 30% and 20%, respectively.

Interestingly, the research demonstrates a significant confidence among Christians in sharing their faith with non-Christian individuals, with 74% feeling assured in doing so. Moreover, an overwhelming majority (89%) recognize the importance of engaging with non-Christian communities.

A noteworthy revelation is that over three-quarters (76%) of respondents expressed a desire to discuss their faith more frequently with non-Christians.

LCM emphasizes the potential exclusion of certain social groups from exposure to the Gospel due to these varying comfort levels. Encouraging Christians to step beyond their comfort zones, Efrem Buckle, Deputy CEO and Director of Training at LCM, emphasizes the need to bridge gaps and engage with individuals outside their usual circles.

Buckle suggests initiating conversations with someone within everyday encounters, citing personal experiences like engaging with a delivery driver. He emphasizes the importance of recognizing the value of every individual and urges Christians to remain receptive to opportunities to share God’s love.

Jason Roach, Director of Ministries at LCM, underscores the universal need for people to encounter the Gospel in a relatable manner. He highlights the challenge of reaching disconnected individuals on their doorstep and acknowledges the willingness of Christians to act, provided they receive encouragement and support in navigating these unfamiliar interactions.
