They shared the one thing more important than the game.

Following a significant loss on Tuesday, the Baltimore Orioles hosted their first Faith Night event, during which six players shared their personal experiences with faith in Jesus Christ. Among them, starting pitcher Trevor Rogers, who joined the team from the Miami Marlins shortly before the trade deadline, spoke about his spiritual journey. Despite a challenging debut performance, Rogers expressed gratitude for being part of a team he views as exceptionally faithful.

The event attracted thousands of fans who stayed after the game to participate in a faith-focused program. This included a worship session led by Reach Worship from Reach Church in Newark, Delaware, featuring popular Christian songs such as “Mighty to Save” and “Till I Met You.” Orioles broadcaster Rob Long commended the organization for their courage in hosting the event.

MLB.com highlighted that faith is a significant aspect of the Orioles’ clubhouse culture, with players frequently attending chapel services despite the demanding game schedule. These services provide an opportunity for players to connect, pray, and discuss their faith away from the pressures of baseball.

Infielder Jordan Westburg noted the strong Christian presence within the team, describing it as the most spiritually dedicated group he has encountered. Veteran first baseman Ryan O’Hearn shared how a Bible verse, 1 Peter 5:7, helps him manage the stress and anxiety related to his career. All-Star shortstop Gunnar Henderson mentioned his daily Bible reading practice, inspired by the Minnesota Twins’ Faith Night from the previous year.

Relief pitcher Danny Coulombe, who is recovering from an injury, spoke about his faith journey, which was profoundly influenced by a college pastor. He emphasized that while baseball is important, spiritual well-being is even more significant. Coulombe and his teammates are eager to share their faith and make a positive impact through such events.
