Angel Moms Break Silence, Deliver Raw Testimonies Of Losing Daughters

In a deeply emotional testimony before the House Homeland Security Committee, two “Angel Moms” who experienced the heart-wrenching loss of their daughters to crime and drugs originating from the U.S. southern border placed partial blame on Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and the policies of the Biden administration.

Tammy Nobles, who lost her 20-year-old daughter Kayla to a murder committed by a suspected MS-13 gang member released by Border Patrol in 2022, and Josephine Dunn, whose 26-year-old daughter Ashley succumbed to a fentanyl overdose in 2021, shared their devastating stories.

Committee Chairman Rep. Mark Green highlighted Mayorkas’s absence in a letter, underscoring the secretary’s refusal to participate in the hearing titled “Voices for the Victims: The Heartbreaking Reality of the Mayorkas Border Crisis.”

Nobles began by vividly describing Kayla’s vibrant personality and the shocking news she received on July 27, 2022, about her daughter’s murder. The assailant, a suspected MS-13 gang member with conspicuous gang-related tattoos, had been released by Border Patrol. Nobles emphasized that a simple visual inspection could have disqualified him, and contacting the El Salvadorian government would have confirmed his gang affiliation.

She expressed frustration with the Department of Health and Human Services for releasing the assailant into the U.S. without following proper procedures, sealing her daughter’s fate. Nobles urged those present to empathize with Kayla’s fear and her courageous fight for life, stressing that the issue transcends political boundaries—it is a safety concern for all residing in the United States.

Josephine Dunn, visibly moved throughout her testimony, shared poignant memories of her daughter Ashley, a victim of fentanyl—a “weapon of mass destruction” responsible for over 100,000 American deaths annually. Arizona, Dunn’s home state, has become a fentanyl superhighway. Ashley accidentally ingested the substance, mistaking it for oxycodone.

Expressing disappointment at Mayorkas’s absence, Dunn criticized him and his policies, asserting their partial responsibility for the tragic outcomes. She underscored the emotional burden of testifying on what would have been her daughter’s 29th birthday.

Both testimonies highlighted the severe impact of lenient border policies on families and communities, urging a reassessment of immigration protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of U.S. citizens.
